I have lots of thoughts and not enough people to tell them to. Welcome to my world! Let the fun begin.

Crappy kidz music
My last posting was in March. Obviously, I have a lot to say. Here is the quick version......three b-school classes + fulltime job + new baby + jealous old baby= no time to sleep, eat, or crap, let alone write this blog. Enough about the past! Let's fast forward to August 11, 2006 and I am reading the Chicago Tribune. In the tempo section I see an article about an album called Kidz Bop 10. I have kids, they like to bop so I read on. It seems this childrens album is the most popular album in the country. When I get home I go to Itunes to listen. They take hit songs and rerecord them with kids singng instead of the original artist. PEOPLE REALLY BUY THIS!? These aren't even talented kids. I feel it's my job as a musicologist(I gave myself that title)to teach my kids about music and this is the material I'm supposed to work with? My wife once brought home a CD titled Bedtime with the Beatles by some no name artist and told me how it would help our baby go to sleep. I told her if I wanted to hear Beatles music, I would listen to the actual Beatles. Don't buy Kidz Bop 10! It will poison your your kids ears and destroy your soul.

It's almost spring break!
I'm sitting here on a Saturday afternoon on break from one of my classes dreaming about spring break. Now, when you are a thirty four year old married Father, spring break has a different meaning than it did when you were twenty one. Instead of getting Drunk in Daytona, you get to clean your house in beautiful suburbia. On a positive note you do get to see your wife and daughter. These days my wife and I are like ships passing through the night, only seeing each other as we pass the responsiblity of watching our daughter between us. My daughter is starting to think my wife and I are the same person as we are never in the same room together and I wear the very difficult to detect "glasses disguise" just like Clark Kent/Superman. Not surprisingly, my wife gets to be Superman in this senario. To all of you married men out there, appreciate your wife. At least for me, if it wasn't for her, my life would not work. Thank you honey! I guess I should go back to class.....It's not quite spring break yet.

Post Oscar Buzz
I'm sitting here reading the reviews of last nights Oscar telecast and I am wondering if we watched the same show. I thought Jon Stewart was good. His Bjork joke was classic and the Steven Spielberg Jewish trilogy reference was very funny if people would just drop their PC attitudes. I recorded the show on my DVR and can tell you this is the way to watch an Oscar telecast. Because at the end of the day, who really cares who won best live action short film. I wached the opening monologue, all the major awards, and a couple of montages and was done with the show in a little more than an hour. Life is good.

Welcome
This is my first post. My daughter is waking up so I have to go. Consider this a test. I'll tell you about me later. Enjoy the Oscars.
